Author

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Stefan Gigacz first encountered Cardijn’s life and work as a young YCW leader.

Later he worked for the International YCW in Brussels where he met several of Cardijn’s collaborators, including Marguerite Fiévez, whose work on Cardijn’s personal archives and the archives of the YCW helped inspire his interest in researching Cardijn’s life and the history of the movement.

He graduated with his PhD thesis, “The Leaven in the Council: Joseph Cardijn and the Jocist Network at Vatican II” at the Yarra Theological Union and the University of Divinity in 2019.

This book is a revised version of his thesis.

He is currently secretary of the Australian Cardijn Institute.
